Preparation
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy.
- Mix in melted butter and salt.
- Gradually incorporate all-purpose flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough, then fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into rolls.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush with additional melted butter and serve warm.
Notes
These rolls are best served warm. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days or freeze tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for longer storage. Consider adding herbs like rosemary or chives for extra flavor, or using different types of cheese for a unique twist.
