  • 1 loaf loaf of French bread, cubed Consider using day-old bread for better absorption.
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries You can use frozen blueberries, thawed and drained.
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Can be adjusted to taste for sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Powdered sugar for garnish (optional) Adds a nice touch before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Place the cubed French bread in the greased dish and sprinkle the blueberries on top.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries.
  4. Press down gently on the bread to ensure it's soaked in the egg mixture.
  5. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight for deeper flavors.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

Notes
