Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, adding onion if desired, and season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat.
- In a large baking dish, layer the cooked beef, chili, and diced tomatoes.
- Top with a layer of tater tots, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Baking
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
Notes
Serve hot with extra cheese, sour cream, or fresh herbs. Goes well with a fresh salad or tortilla chips. For storing, cool completely and cover tightly; refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
