Making the Rub
- In a medium bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and brown sugar (if using).
- Whisk or stir all ingredients together until they are thoroughly combined and no lumps remain.
- Transfer the turkey rub to an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place until you are ready to use it on your turkey.
Notes
For best results, apply the rub generously to a thawed turkey, both under and over the skin, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or overnight in the refrigerator, before roasting.
