Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds or pecans)

Method

Preparation
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy removal of the toffee later.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Once the butter is melted, mix in the sugar, water, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  4. Keep cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches a golden-brown color, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture onto your prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
  6. Once slightly cool but still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and let them melt.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee and sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.
  8. Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature or in the fridge until the chocolate hardens.
  9. Once set, break the toffee into pieces and store it in an airtight container.

Notes

For a sweet and salty treat, consider adding sea salt on top of the chocolate before it sets. This toffee can be customized with different nuts or toppings as desired.
