Preparation
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy removal of the toffee later.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Once the butter is melted, mix in the sugar, water, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Keep cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches a golden-brown color, about 10-15 minutes.
- Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture onto your prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
- Once slightly cool but still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and let them melt.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee and sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.
- Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature or in the fridge until the chocolate hardens.
- Once set, break the toffee into pieces and store it in an airtight container.
Notes
For a sweet and salty treat, consider adding sea salt on top of the chocolate before it sets. This toffee can be customized with different nuts or toppings as desired.
