  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs, and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze them for up to three months for longer storage. For thicker cookies, chill the dough before baking.
