Making the Cookies
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; then beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide dough, flatten into discs, wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), then roll out chilled dough on a floured surface and cut out bear shapes.
- Place cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden; cool completely on racks.
Decorating the Cookies
- Prepare frosting by whisking powdered sugar and milk until smooth, then divide and tint a small portion red.
- Using white frosting, outline and fill the bear's face and body, allowing it to set.
- Pipe a red Santa hat onto each bear and attach mini chocolate chips for eyes.
- Use a black edible marker to draw a nose and mouth on each bear to complete the decoration.
