  • 1 bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef or steak to the skillet; cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Grease a baking dish and spread half of the frozen tater tots on the bottom.
  5. Layer on the beef and vegetable mixture, followed by half of the provolone and cheddar cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining tater tots and finish with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve hot from the oven with a side salad or garlic bread. Can be enjoyed with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce. For a twist, use different cheeses or add extra veggies like mushrooms or spinach.
