Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened.
- Add the ground beef or steak to the skillet; cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Grease a baking dish and spread half of the frozen tater tots on the bottom.
- Layer on the beef and vegetable mixture, followed by half of the provolone and cheddar cheese.
- Top with the remaining tater tots and finish with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve hot from the oven with a side salad or garlic bread. Can be enjoyed with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce. For a twist, use different cheeses or add extra veggies like mushrooms or spinach.
