For the Cake
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger grated
  • 1 cup Milk
For the Glaze
  • 1 1/2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons Orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Making the Cake
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the honey, orange zest, and grated ginger.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean; let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glazing
  1. To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and honey until smooth, then drizzle it over the cooled cake before serving.

For an extra touch of flavor, garnish with candied orange slices or a sprinkle of fresh ginger.
