Wet Ingredients
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened 113g
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 1 tbsp Orange zest from 1 large orange
  • ¼ cup Fresh orange juice
  • ½ cup Milk
Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp Honey

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground ginger, then set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in honey, orange zest, and orange juice until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with dry, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Glazing
  1. While cakes cool, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and honey in a small bowl until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cakes and let it set before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a touch of candied ginger to the batter. Ensure all cold ingredients, especially butter and eggs, are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
