Ingredients
  

For the Mozzarella Sticks
  • 12 sticks mozzarella sticks
  • 1 cup buttermilk For soaking the mozzarella
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For dredging
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For coating
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper Adjust for spice preference
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying For deep frying the sticks

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Soak the mozzarella sticks in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  3. Dredge each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, return to the buttermilk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or spicy aioli. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
