Ingredients

Meatball Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 large egg Large egg helps bind the mixture
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Gravy Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth Use low sodium if preferred
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp flour For thickening the gravy
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For cooking the meatballs

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and shape into meatballs.
Cooking Meatballs
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Making Gravy
  1. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until softened.
  2. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly.
  3. Bring to a simmer and return meatballs to the skillet. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until sauce thickens and meatballs are cooked through.
Serving
  1. Serve the meatballs and gravy over a bed of mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a complete meal.
  2. Garnish with extra parsley or grated cheese if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add spices like Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture. Be sure not to overmix the meat when forming the meatballs for a tender texture. You can use ground turkey or pork instead of beef if preferred. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
