  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the molasses and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and no streaks of flour remain.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting out with the parchment paper and cutting into squares.

For an extra festive touch, dust the cooled brownies with powdered sugar or drizzle with a simple lemon glaze.
