  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
Assembly
  1. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  2. Melt butterscotch chips and drizzle over the brownie layer.
  3. Spread the remaining brownie batter on top and use a knife to swirl the butterscotch into it.
  4. Sprinkle sea salt on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Use high-quality butterscotch chips for the best flavor. Add nuts for extra crunch or increase butterscotch chips for a stronger flavor.
