  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar sifted (480g)
  • 3-4 tablespoons Heavy Cream or Milk
  • 1-2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Method
 

How to Make Buttercream
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  2. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until combined, then increase speed and beat until smooth.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream or milk and vanilla extract, then continue to beat on medium-high speed until the frosting is light, airy, and spreadable.
  4. Add a pinch of salt and mix briefly to balance the sweetness, adjusting the consistency with more liquid if needed.

Notes

For a whiter frosting, use clear vanilla extract. If the frosting is too thick, add more cream or milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar.
