Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, then pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before applying the frosting.
Frosting
- In a medium bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer or whisk.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
- Divide the frosting into separate bowls and add a few drops of red and/or green food coloring to each portion, mixing to achieve desired festive colors.
- Evenly spread the colored frosting over the cooled brownies, then cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For an extra festive touch, sprinkle with holiday-themed sprinkles immediately after frosting.
