Cookie Bars
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
Frosting
- In a medium bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
- Add milk and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency. If too thick, add more milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar.
- Once the cookie bars are completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over them and immediately decorate with Christmas sprinkles.
- Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
For best results, ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature. Don't overbake the bars to keep them soft and chewy.
