Ingredients
  

Toffee
  • 1 sleeve Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract optional
Topping
  • 1.5 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 tsp Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Method
 

Prep
  1. Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together, then boil for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
Bake & Finish
  1. Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from oven, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, let sit for 5 minutes to melt, then spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 30-40 minutes until firm before breaking into pieces.

Ensure toffee boils for the specified time to achieve the correct consistency. For best results, use good quality chocolate.
