Ingredients

Dough ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Filling ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins optional

Method

Prepare the dough
  1. Warm the milk until it is lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix until a dough forms and then knead it on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Prepare the filling and shape the buns
  1. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread it with butter and sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Roll the dough into a log and cut it into slices.
  3. Place the slices in a greased pan and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
Bake the buns
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the buns for 20-25 minutes until they are golden.
  2. Serve the buns warm.

Notes

Make sure the milk is not too hot when you add the yeast, as high temperatures can kill it. Knead the dough well for a soft texture. For extra flavor, consider adding nuts or dried fruit to the filling. Let the buns cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth.
