Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
Frying
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Glazing
- While the fritters cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a shallow bowl until smooth. Dip each warm fritter into the glaze, turning to coat evenly.
- Place glazed fritters back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set. Serve warm and enjoy these delicious Cinnamon Apple Fritters.
Notes
Ensure oil is at the correct temperature (350°F / 175°C) for even cooking and a crispy exterior. Do not overcrowd the pot when frying, as this can lower the oil temperature and result in greasy fritters. Serve warm for the best flavor experience, optionally with a dusting of extra cinnamon or powdered sugar.
