Preparation
- Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat until fully liquid.
- Add the mini marshmallows to the pot and stir constantly until they are completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the Rice Krispies cereal into the marshmallow mixture and mix thoroughly until all the cereal is evenly coated.
- Press the mixture firmly and evenly into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan using a buttered spatula or wax paper.
- Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature before cutting them into squares and serving.
Notes
For extra festive flair, add a few drops of green or red food coloring to the marshmallow mixture, or sprinkle with holiday sprinkles before they set. Ensure you press them firmly into the pan for well-formed treats.
