Ingredients
  

Chocolate Layer
  • 1 pan chocolate cake 9x13 inch, cooled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 packages instant chocolate pudding mix 3.9 oz
  • 4 cups cold milk
Peanut Butter Layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 container frozen whipped topping 8 oz, thawed
Topping
  • 1 container frozen whipped topping 8 oz, thawed
  • 1 cup chopped peanut butter cups

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Prepare the instant chocolate pudding according to package directions using cold milk; allow it to set for 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth, then mix in peanut butter and gently fold in one container of whipped topping.
  3. Layer half of the cubed chocolate cake in a trifle dish, then spoon half of the chocolate pudding and half of the peanut butter mixture over it.
  4. Repeat the cake, pudding, and peanut butter mixture layers using the remaining ingredients.
  5. Finish by topping the trifle with the remaining whipped topping and sprinkling with chopped peanut butter cups; refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, chill the trifle for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to soften. You can also use homemade chocolate cake or brownies.
