Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the frozen tater tots in an even layer.
- Pour the can of chili evenly over the tater tots.
- Sprinkle diced onions on top of the chili.
- Layer the remaining tater tots over the chili.
- Spread the sour cream over the top of the tater tots and season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, use a chili with added spice or mix in some diced bell peppers or green chilies. Try adding cooked ground beef or turkey for extra protein. For crispy tater tots, leave them in the oven a little longer, but keep an eye on them.
