Marinating the Chicken
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and salt.
- Add chicken pieces and coat them well with the marinade. Let it sit for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
- Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking until they become fragrant.
- Add the marinated chicken into the skillet and cook until the chicken is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover and cook for 15 minutes until the chicken is tender.
- Stir in the heavy cream and sugar, letting it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or spices according to your taste.
Serving
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, over rice or naan.
Notes
Marinating the chicken for longer will make it more flavorful. Adjust spices according to your taste. For a lower-calorie version, you can use light cream instead of heavy cream. Adding vegetables like bell peppers or spinach can provide extra nutrients.
