Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 1 lb chicken (boneless, skinless, cut into pieces)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced)
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Method
 

Marinating the Chicken
  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and salt.
  2. Add chicken pieces and coat them well with the marinade. Let it sit for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking until they become fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken into the skillet and cook until the chicken is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover and cook for 15 minutes until the chicken is tender.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and sugar, letting it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or spices according to your taste.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, over rice or naan.

Notes

Marinating the chicken for longer will make it more flavorful. Adjust spices according to your taste. For a lower-calorie version, you can use light cream instead of heavy cream. Adding vegetables like bell peppers or spinach can provide extra nutrients.
