  • 1 Egg large
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
Gravy
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 8 oz Mushrooms sliced cremini
  • 1/2 Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 cups Beef broth low sodium

  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large skillet
  • Whisk

Method

Salisbury Steak
  1. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper in a bowl, then form into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté sliced mushrooms and chopped onion until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Sprinkle flour over vegetables and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer until thickened. Return patties to the skillet, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, deglaze the pan with a splash of red wine after searing the patties before adding vegetables. Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
