Prepare Popcorn
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat, add kernels, cover, and cook, shaking occasionally, until popping stops.
- Pour popped popcorn into a large bowl and remove any unpopped kernels.
Make Red Velvet Coating
- Melt white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Stir in red food coloring, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until well combined and the color is vibrant.
Combine and Chill
- Pour the red velvet coating over the popped popcorn, gently tossing until evenly coated.
- Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it cool completely until the chocolate hardens.
Notes
For an extra spooky touch, drizzle with a little melted dark chocolate to mimic blood spatter once the red velvet coating has set.
