  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Non-stick cooking spray For spraying the tortillas
For the Fruit Salsa
  • 2 granny smith apples Peeled and diced
  • 1 lemon Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 kiwis Peeled and diced
  • 1 lb strawberries Finely diced
  • 1/2 lb raspberries (optional) Gently stir into the salsa
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar Optional, for extra sweetness
  • 3 tbsp preserves (strawberry or raspberry) For additional flavor

Method

Preparation of Tortilla Chips
  1. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar, then set it aside.
  2. Take three tortillas at a time and spray each side lightly with cooking spray. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously on both sides.
  3. Stack the tortillas and cut them into 12 wedges using a pizza cutter. Repeat this step until all the tortillas are prepared.
Baking the Tortilla Chips
  1. Place the chips on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350°F (about 177°C) for 11-12 minutes, or until they are crisp.
Preparation of Fruit Salsa
  1. Peel and finely chop the apples, then squeeze two teaspoons of lemon juice over the diced apples and toss to coat.
  2. Finely dice the strawberries and kiwis. Gently stir all the fruit together, keeping in mind that if using raspberries, they may break apart a bit.
Serving
  1. Serve the fruit salsa in a bowl alongside a plate of cinnamon sugar tortilla chips for a fun and interactive experience.
  2. Optionally, add a dollop of whipped cream or yogurt on the side for a creamier option.

Notes

Make sure to slice the fruits evenly for the best texture and presentation. Feel free to substitute any fruits with your favorites, such as mango or blueberries. For a healthier option, reduce the sugar in the tortilla chips or the fruit salsa.
