Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the egg, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan and fill each cavity about 2/3 full.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Serving
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, ideally with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.
Notes
To store, place in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month.
